What does it mean for a perfume to be certified organic?

Most conventional perfumes are made with synthetic ingredients, petrochemical-based alcohols and artificial fixatives which, although they provide durability, can be harsh on the skin and the environment. As an alternative, there are certified organic natural perfumes, which combine the art of perfumery with respect for health and nature.

Conventional perfume vs. organic natural perfume

A conventional perfume and an organic perfume differ not only in their composition but also in the philosophy behind each creation. While conventional perfumery focuses on industrial performance, certified organic perfumery prioritizes purity, transparency and a genuine connection with nature.

Conventional perfume Organic natural perfume
Synthetic ingredients and chemical fixatives Natural essential oils and plant-based alcohol
Artificial aromas Fragrances derived from nature
High environmental impact Sustainable production and recyclable packaging
Risk of irritation on sensitive skin Formulas more respectful to the skin

Benefits of a certified organic perfume

  • Skin and health: more respectful for sensitive skin as they are free of phthalates, parabens and synthetic fixatives.
  • Emotional well-being: essential oils provide aromatherapy benefits ranging from calm and relaxation to energy and harmony.
  • Sustainability: based on renewable raw materials, artisanal processes and recyclable packaging.
  • Transparency: certification ensures that the product meets clear and strict standards of naturalness and respect for the environment.

The importance of certification

It is not enough for a brand to claim to be “natural” or “organic.” Independent certification is what guarantees that the ingredients have been selected according to standards of purity, sustainability and respect. In our case, we are certified by ACENE, which confirms that our fragrances are created with natural components and responsible processes.

How to start experiencing an organic perfume

If you have never tried a natural perfume, the best way is to start in a simple and risk-free way. That is why we offer our Sample Sets, available for each collection. These sets allow you to explore all the fragrances at home, test them calmly and, if you decide on one, the cost of the set is discounted from your purchase of a larger size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does an organic perfume last less than a conventional one? (click here)

The longevity of a perfume depends on several factors: the concentration (eau de toilette, eau de parfum…), the ingredients (citrus notes are more volatile than woody or resinous ones), the skin type (it lasts longer on oily skin than on dry skin), and the application area (on skin, clothes or hair).

Since they are free from synthetic fixatives, organic perfumes may have a lighter fixation, but their essential oils and natural extracts also provide balanced durability. To enhance it, you can apply them on moisturized skin, layer with the matching body lotion, or spray on clothes and hair.

In summary, an organic perfume can last several hours and offers a more natural and authentic experience that evolves in harmony with your skin.

What does it mean for a perfume to be certified organic? (click here)

A certified organic perfume means that an independent body —in our case ACENE— has verified that its composition meets strict standards of naturalness, sustainability and respect for health.

This implies that a significant part of the ingredients come from certified organic farming, that the plant-based alcohol we use is organic beet alcohol, and that we never use petroleum derivatives, silicones, parabens or synthetic fragrances.

Some of our perfumes reach 100% organic ingredients, while others are around 80%, because in certain formulas a small percentage of other components is needed to ensure stability and quality. Certification guarantees that, in all cases, the standards are met, offering an option that is more respectful to your skin and the planet.

Can I use an organic perfume if I have sensitive skin? (click here)

In general, organic perfumes are more respectful to the skin as they are free from aggressive fixatives and preservatives. However, if your skin is especially sensitive to alcohol —even if it is organic— you may experience some irritation. That is why we recommend starting with our mini samples, so you can test the fragrance safely.
